Meet Dr. Charles Benson

Charles W. Benson, DC

Dr. Charles Benson joined Pomperaug Chiropractic in March of 2015. His commitment, knowledge, enthusiasm, and empathy made him the right fit for our team.

Dr. Benson was born and raised in Southbury, CT. As the oldest of three siblings, he’s always had a heightened sense of responsibility towards the people who need his help and support. His mother, a nurse, inspired him to follow the path of the healing arts.

During his high school years, Dr. Benson became a celebrated scholar athlete. He participated and excelled in Baseball, Football, and Hockey. His commitment, determination, and hard work earned him an athletic scholarship for Division I Baseball at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In 2011, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.

Chiropractic proved to be his calling and in 2014, Dr. Benson received his Doctorate of Chiropractic from the New York Chiropractic College.

Dr. Benson believes in total wellness and his patients can expect to receive high quality, state-of the-art care. Dr. Benson feels strongly about developing a partnership based on trust with his patients. He believes in a patient’s right to take responsibility for his wellbeing and make the decisions that promote healing.

He provides his patients with the information necessary to remain injury free and optimize their physical, mental and social wellbeing. In his treatment of sports injuries and all neuro-musculoskeletal pain syndromes, Dr. Benson utilizes his training in Kinesiology to help his patients maximize their most biomechanically efficient posture. In addition to spinal manipulation and nutritional counseling, he is proficient at instrument assisted soft tissue release and the Rock Tape method of Fascial Movement Taping.

Having experienced various injuries during his athletic career, Dr. Benson has a deep understanding of the process of recovery and healing. He recognizes the multi-dimensional challenges people face as they try to regain their confidence after an injury. His empathy, knowledge, and ability to communicate make him extremely effective.

Fun facts about Dr. Benson:

  • He lives a very active lifestyle which includes regular workouts at the gym and running. He’s known to approach people at the gym and advise them on their posture and proper way of lifting weights. He just can’t help himself.
  • Dr. Prado has been a mentor and an inspiration for Dr. Benson.
